Hara the Hamster

Happy to report that Hara, my brother's pet hamster, is doing fine.

I think she didn't had wet tail, that deadly hamster disease that causes death. I searched the internet for more information on hamsters and their illnesses. I though she had diarrhea, I thought she had wet tail. All these because her fur looks wet and sticks to her skin, making her look skinny. So I searched for "wet fur" and I think I know what she had.

She suffered from heat stroke. I think. I am no vet.

See, hamsters' ideal temperature is between 18 to 24 degrees Celsius. But we live in a tropical country, and it's "summer" time here, which means a daily 30 degrees temperature. Plus Hara hides under her PVC pipe "bedroom" all day. The wet fur probably was caused by the moist inside the pipe. -_-

My mother bought Hara new hamster food and vitamins, and I placed her inside my brother's room during the afternoon coz he turns on the a/c when he sleeps (he works at graveyard shifts).

So now, Hara isn't lethargic anymore, runs on her new wheel, and does acrobatics again. So happy for her. ^__^
